ARGUMENT

  • reports of 3- to 5-year survival following aggressive local treatment (surgery, RFA, cryotherapy) for limited metastases in the liver or lung from assortment of soid tumor types.

Theoretically

  • eradicate tumor cells in the sites most likely to harbor residual disease
  • there could be a subgroup of patients with metastatic disease that is intermediate between completely absent and widely metastatic.
